Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to making connectMyClub usable by everyone.

Our commitment

connectMyClub is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience and apply the relevant accessibility standards.

This statement applies to connectmy.club and its subdomains. It was last reviewed on June 2026.

Conformance target

We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

We are partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Member app improvements

We have completed a structured accessibility audit of the connectMyClub iOS, Android, and app. Improvements delivered include:

  • Over 100 icon-only buttons now have meaningful aria-label attributes.
  • Around 40 images have proper alt text — descriptive where meaningful, empty for decorative images.
  • Loading spinners on 78 screens are marked aria-hidden="true" so screen readers skip them.
  • Form validation errors on 28 screens use role="alert" so they are announced automatically.
  • The group chat typing indicator announces via aria-live.
  • Segment controls and filter chips are labelled and convey their selected state.
  • Interactive list items are correctly identified as buttons.
  • The page title updates on every navigation so screen reader users always know where they are.
  • Seven routes that previously had no title now have one.
  • All modal close buttons are labelled.

What we're working towards on this website

We are actively improving the public website to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Our current targets include:

  • Auditing and correcting colour contrast across all pages, particularly where our orange palette is used.
  • Ensuring all meaningful images have descriptive alt text (older blog and campaign pages are being reviewed).
  • Full keyboard navigability and visible focus indicators throughout.
  • Associated labels on all form fields.
  • Consistent semantic heading structure across all pages.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following areas that do not yet fully meet our accessibility target:

  • Embedded maps (club finder, event route maps) have limited keyboard navigation. We are investigating accessible alternatives.
  • Some third-party components (e.g. payment forms, Stripe checkout) are outside our direct control. We select providers who publish their own accessibility conformance reports where possible.
  • PDF documents attached to club events or newsletters may not be tagged for screen reader use. This is managed at club level and outside our direct control.

Technical information

connectMyClub relies on the following technologies for conformance with WCAG 2.1:

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
